Common uses
- Testing apps Fill phone fields while developing or QA-testing.
- Forms & demos Sign-up flows that require a phone number.
- Games & roleplay Quick numbers for stories and prototypes.
- Screenshots Show a number without exposing a real one.
Are these real phone numbers?
No. Every number uses the 555-01 range that is officially reserved for fictional use, so the numbers you generate here are not dialable and do not belong to a real person. They are safe to use anywhere you need a placeholder. The full source is listed at the foot of this page with the date it was last checked.
Frequently asked questions
Is this generator free?
Yes. It is completely free to use, with no sign-up and no limits.
Will these numbers ever call a real person?
No. They use the 555-0100 to 555-0199 range reserved for fiction, so they are non-dialable.
Can I generate more than one number at a time?
Yes. Use the “How many” control to generate 1, 5, or 10 numbers at once.
Do you support other countries?
Yes — a random UK phone number generator and a random Australian phone number generator are live, with more countries planned. Use the header nav to switch.
Can I generate a toll-free (1-800) number?
No, and deliberately so. The 555-0100 to 555-0199 range is held back for fictional use, which is what makes the numbers here safe. That reservation does not extend to the toll-free codes (800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, 888), where numbers are assigned to real subscribers — so a randomly generated toll-free number could belong to a real business and put real calls through to it. In the UK the situation differs: Ofcom does reserve a freephone range for fiction, so the UK generator offers a toll-free type.
